As part of the climate change research, data from the SPOT/VEGETATION instrument are systematically corrected for period 1998-2004 and provided in this archive. The VGT archive contains observations acquired by the VEGETATION sensors 1 and 2 onboard SPOT 4 and 5 satellites. Initial data type 10-day S10 composites provided by the Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (CNES) and pre-processed at the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO) in Belgium in full resolution (1km) were re-projected into standard Lambert conformal conic map projection and further corrected for bi-directional Reflectance Distribution Function (BRDF) effect and cloud contamination. Growing seasons 1998-2004 are presented with twenty 10-day composites from April 11, to October 31.

Every year in Canada, thousands of people are evacuated from their homes and workplaces due to the threat of wildfire, and thousands more are put on evacuation alert. The wildland-urban interface refers to residential, industrial or agricultural developments that are located within or near forested or grassland areas. Each year, more and more Canadians live, work and play in these forested areas and therefore live with the threat of wildfire. Evacuations are ordered for a number of reasons: danger to life and property, health risks and poor visibility due to smoke, and road closures preventing access to a community.

All available bathymetry and related information for Lower Kananaskis Lake were collected and hard copy maps digitized where necessary. The data were validated against more recent data (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission 'SRTM' imagery and Indian Remote Sensing 'IRS' imagery) and corrected where necessary. The published data set contains the lake bathymetry formatted as an Arc ascii grid. Bathymetric contours and the boundary polygon are available as shapefiles.

The Canadian Ice Service acquires Synthetic Aperture Radar Satellite imagery in order to have data available for the provision of ice information. Upon request of specific clients, Synthetic Aperture Radar imagery will be analysed in more detail than for the daily ice charts and these image analysis usually available to the public. The area covered by the image analysis coincides with an area related to the satellite path. The path of the satellite changes each day so the chart area shifts from one day to the next.
