In collaboration with National Metrology Institutes (NMIs) worldwide, including NRC, the BIPM fulfills its mandate of providing the basis for a single, coherent system of measurements throughout the world, traceable to the International System of Units (SI).

In attending the four industry markets and events, we will be able to follow a coherent strategy.

With GAC’s support, this project aims to provide funding to the United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) to bring together humanitarian actors and Congolese authorities in order to ensure a coherent response to the ongoing crisis. Project activities include: (1) advocating for multi-sectorial coordination for humanitarian response; (2) supporting operation readiness and preparedness in neighbouring countries; and (3) strengthening the emergency telecommunications system.

Project activities include: (1) supporting life-saving and life-sustaining activities while filling critical funding gaps; (2) promoting needs-based assistance in accordance with humanitarian principles; (3) strengthening coordination and leadership primarily through the Humanitarian Coordinator function, and by leveraging the humanitarian cluster system; (4) improving the relevance and coherence of humanitarian response by strategically funding priorities as identified under the Humanitarian Response Plan; and (5) expanding the delivery of assistance in hard-to-reach areas by partnering with national and international partners.

This work also aims to operationalize commitments in the joint UN/World Bank “Pathways for Peace” report, the “Sustaining Peace” resolutions and the “Action for Peacekeeping” agenda leading to more preventive, coherent, data-driven, efficient and effective – and gender-sensitive – UN system results in fragile and conflict affected states.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs’ (OCHA) primary mandate is to oversee the coordination of international humanitarian responses, in partnership with national and international actors, in order to achieve more coherent and effective humanitarian action. This grant represents Canada's long-term institutional support to OCHA.

Project activities include: (1) supporting life-saving activities while filling critical funding gaps; (2) strengthening coordination and leadership within the humanitarian response; (3) improving the relevance and coherence of the humanitarian response; and (4) expanding the delivery of assistance in hard-to-reach areas.
