Grants and Contributions

About this information

In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.

The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.

Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

CTST Fast Pilot Project-demonstration of the AOS technology to disinfect and decontaminate stormwater in California (pre-commercial field pilot study)

Agreement Number:

919063

Duration: from Dec 3, 2018 to Mar 31, 2020
Description:

This project will establish an AOS field pilot in Bolivar Park in the Los Cerritos Channel Watershed, Lakewood, California for treatment of municipal stormwater. The pilot will receive a side stream to assess its ability to provide water disinfection and decontamination. The project will be implemented in 4 phases including; (1) planning and engineering design, (2) laboratory assessment, procurement and fabrication (3) testing three AOS configurations (4) techno-economic assessment of the treatment train. Measurable outcomes for the pilot are demonstrated improvements in water quality (bacterial and organic contaminants). Continuous, long-term operation of the pilot will allow assessment of the competitive advantage of the AOS.

Demonstration and implementation of the AOS prototype for treatment of poultry waste water

Agreement Number:

904791

Duration: from Apr 1, 2018 to Feb 29, 2020
Description:

BioLargo Water will establish an on-site pilot of its AOS technology for treatment of wastewater generated during daily operations of a poultry processing facility. The pilot will demonstrate the AOS’ ability to disinfect and decontaminate water at high flowrates, allowing for recycling, reuse, and/or safe water discharge. Moreover, continuous treatment and recycling of the processed water will allow for a comprehensive assessment of the long term economic advantage of AOS in terms of both operating and capital costs. Conservation benefits of the AOS with regard to both energy and water in comparison with conventional wastewater treatment technologies will also be established.
