Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Validation of PainTrace® Monitoring System against Self Reported Pain in Patients with Osteoarthritis (OA) in Knees
993542
In this Research Study the application of PainTrace® Monitoring System as an assessment tool will be evaluated with other assessment tools for pain to provide an assessment of the efficacy of treatment over a one week period. Thirty participants having osteoarthritis in the knee will be recruited. Baseline measurements using the PainTrace® Monitoring System will be taken and questionnaires on pain and mobility and on the physical and emotional health of the participant and how immobility and pain effects daily activities will be completed. A physical examination of the knee will also be performed.

We are hiring a Data Analytics Research Assistant to assist in a research study providing a comparison of our PainTrace biosignal for the quantitative measurement of pain to human self-report of pain during a noxious stimulus. The Research Assistant will collect, review and analyze data, create statistical comparisons, and assist in the final report of the results from the study. The Research Assistant will further help in the development of training tools and protocols to assist veterinarians in adding PainTrace to their workflows to detect, locate, and track pain to assist in effective treatments.

Peak Detection and Speech Annotation Development
958729
The PainTrace® medical device is a monitoring system that provides a quantitative measure of pain in humans and in animals. Data analysis of pain peak level measurements and including the annotation of activity, examination, treatments, drug administration, and anatomy is paramount to the expansion of the application of the PainTrace® as a necessary health monitoring tool. To that end, peak detection algorithms to identify features and trends as changes in levels of pain as measured by the PainTrace® medical device and reliable speech to text annotation must be developed. Using analytics PainTrace® will have the capacity to provide a completely objective pain scale.
