Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

FPFM - Carbon Sequestration Using Recycled Concrete Aggregates
1010426
CarbonCure is establishing a new technology in addition to its current products that will have a significant ability to permanently remove carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere. This technology uses Recycled Concrete Aggregates (RCA) which comes from waste and demolished concrete sources, and injects CO2 into this material. This process has no negative effect on the properties of the RCA and its ability to be used as a road base material. Once at scale, each RCA location will have the ability to remove hundreds of tons of CO2 from the atmosphere every year.
In order to further develop the project, a new pilot plant in California is being proposed to further validate and develop the technology.

Scaling the carbon credit support infrastructure
1007393
CarbonCure is the first company to offer engineered carbon credits that are approved under Verra’s Certification Standard. Our robust data collection, validation and traceability is what enables our carbon credits to pass the rigorous third party verification process and allows CarbonCure to sell Verified Carbon Units (VCUs) at a premium.
In order to support this growing credit business we need to update several aspects of our digital platform. We believe that having automated data collection tools and a customer web platform that guides our users on the rigorous and complex concrete production data requirements is our best opportunity at scaling this major component of CarbonCure’s business.
