Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Design and development of modular mechanism of physical prototypes
1005131
The project will be research oriented where the candidates will be involved in the design and development of modular framework for different prototypes of the automation products we develop. Such a framework should enable us to implement a unified design approach so that every new instrument can be based on the same fundamental design. Each new design of our products need to be designed around the common requirement of mechanics, electronics and software. Most of the times, these requirements remain the same across multiple instruments. However because of a missing unified design approach, we have to completely redesign each product. Therefore in this project, the graduates will work towards a common design approach among multiple products.

Development of Technical Framework for Automation Technologies
972316
At Fourien, we are developing technologies to introduce automation in instrumentation, data analytics and robotics. The graduates will be directly involved in design, development and implementation of various technical modules of different technologies. They will be trained in critical thinking to solve challenging problems with key objectives of lower cost of manufacturing, longer operational life of a product and lower barriers during R&D. The graduates will learn and contribute in instrument design, development of electronics schematics, implementation of circuit boards, computer programming and integration of various modules. The outcome of this project will be prototype development of different technologies with common framework.

Design and Development of New Version of Picomeasure Instrument
952807
Design and development of a new version of vibrometer for micro mechanical sensors. The vibrometer will incorporate a bottom as well as a top microscope. The bottom microscope will have a functionality to adapt different sizes of objectives. The vibrometer will be used by our clients to operate our micro mechanical sensors for applications such as blood coagulation, DNA melting, density/viscosity measurements, etc.
