Grants and Contributions

About this information

In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.

The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.

Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Development and Integration of Vibration-Based Energy Harvester into the Sensor Module

Agreement Number:

949139

Duration: from Jun 1, 2020 to Mar 31, 2021
Description:

Currently, Nanoprecise has a sensor called RotationLF, which runs on battery, that lasts anywhere from 0.5 - 3 years depending on the number of uploads per day. This limits the use cases for our present sensor. We would like to harvest energy from vibrations and temperature fluctuations to be able to make its battery last above 5 years. For this, we need a 3rd party energy harvesting source like Revibe (datasheet attached) to feed its output to e-peas microcontroller AEM30940 (datasheet attached). We need to add following new elements to our existing sensor to harvest energy continuosly:
here will be three additional modules for this to work.
1. Energy Harvester (Revibe)
2. Microcontroller
3. Supercapacitor

Japan Market Entry

Agreement Number:

942989

Duration: from Feb 1, 2020 to Sep 30, 2020
Description:

“Japan project”: To conduct a pilot project for testing Nanoprecise's predictive maintenance technology in Japan with the help of their Japanese partner, Sanyo Trading's R&D and Strategic Initiatives unit. Nanoprecise's predictive maintence solution consists of a wireless IoT hardware (that measures vibration, sound, temperature, RPM and humidity) all from one device and Artificial Intelligence based software, that is able to detect anomalies in the behaviour of industrial machines, characterize those anomalies as specfic fault types with the machine and finally predict the remaining time to failure. The pilot will be conducted at the site called UACJ Nagoya plant. The main outcome of this pilot is to ultimately expand this technology to rest of Japan.

Addition of fault detection and prediction algorithms for pumps and transmissions, incorporating new acoustic sensing capabilities to the existing vibration and temperature sensor system.

Agreement Number:

921239

Duration: from Feb 1, 2019 to Mar 31, 2020
Description:

A prototype new sensor incorporating an acoustic emission pickup on the existing system has been developed. Algorithms must be developed to analyze the signature to identify mechanical faults and determine the remaining time to reach the reliability limit of the equipment being monitored. Field trials need to be set up to test the new sensor and evaluate the accuracy of the data and analysis. Results from the field trials need to be used to optimize the algorithms and any areas to improve the functionality of the sensors and installation methods must be identified. The addition of acoustic capabilities to the sensor will allow us to perform condition monitoring on equipment with fluid film bearings and equipment with reciprocating motion.
