Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Development and testing of customer-specific corrosion detection models
1029465
qualiTEAS is an AI-first company. Our solution, qVision, is an AI-powered computer vision technology capable of analyzing asset images to assess any impact(s) due to corrosion. qVision makes the visual inspection process faster by automated visual data analysis and detects corrosion both quantitatively and qualitatively.
The objective of this project is to evaluate the technological capabilities of qVision in automating visual data analysis with greater accuracy, reliability, and compatibility in industry settings through pilot programs with interested clients from Canadian Offshore to Singapore maritime companies. These pilot projects are important to showcase the capabilities of qVision and secure commercial contracts from them.

ITPD-IPS – AI-powered Corrosion Inspection for Ship Structures
1024164
As part of the international cleantech project “AI-powered Corrosion Inspection for Ship Structures,” this project will focus on the application of AI-based software to inspect and quantify corrosion in seagoing assets.
The steps involved in the pilot project will be as follows: 1) Analysis of data using computer vision-based AI application 2) comparison between existing vs proposed approach, and 3) A final report generation.
The major milestone will be to generate an insightful inspection report, which will contain condition-based inspection outcomes, predictive assessment, and comparative analysis. Additionally, Lloyd's Register (LR), as a third-party certifier, will potentially collaboration

Development of a Predictive Maintenance Application for Proactive Corrosion Management
989335
The firm has developed a ML-based image analysis software that can help in analyzing visual inspection data collected off maritime assets and detect the existence of any corrosion damage. In order to make it more suitable for the requirements of the industry, the firm is aiming to develop a predictive maintenance application, which will then be integrated with its existing image analysis software. This application will help to track the corrosion-mediated damage in a time-resolved manner and provide “health-score” of the asset at the each inspection cycle. This functionality will make the firm's solution more comprehensive and will provide an enhanced asset integrity management solution to the industry.

Testing and Modification of the Deep Learning Software for Corrosion Detection in Subsea Assets Using Image Analysis
983274
Due to the diffused light environment at the subsea level, assessment of asset’s surface condition using visual inspection is difficult. Therefore, a digital solution with an ability to detect corrosion in the subsea environment can be an important component for the offshore asset inspection process.
Therefore, within this project frame, qualiTEAS intends to modify the existing deep learning application further to make it compatible with subsea asset’s corrosion inspection. This will be an extension of the application that will be ready at the end of the ongoing IRAP project.
