It seeks to equip members with the necessary skills, resources and support to strengthen their ability to effectively advocate for women's rights and drive sustainable social change. Using a livelihoods lens, PEKKA Foundation aims to provide targeted workshops, technical assistance, mentorship programs and leadership training using technology to support its Union members in their advocacy work.

Project activities include: (1) providing gender-responsive and inclusive protection services, including GBV prevention and response services; (2) providing safe drinking water; (3) rehabilitating gender-responsive and inclusive water systems, latrines and handwashing facilities; and (4) providing health care services, including sexual and reproductive health services.

Services are designed with gender-sensitive approaches that address the specific needs of girls and boys through case management and referrals to other services, such as reproductive health services for girls and positive masculinity programs for boys.

To support the federal government’s commitment to maintain a strong and effective publicly funded health care system through investments in emerging and demonstrated innovations in priority areas, such as palliative and end-of-life care, home and community care, mental health care and other federal, provincial-territorial and emerging priorities.

The specific objective(s) of this funding opportunity are to:

• Support Knowledge Sharing activities (WSC: #moreinformation) from ongoing or recently completed, community-engaged research projects that aim to improve the wellness of Indigenous Peoples in Canada from a gendered perspective, including how Indigenous concepts of gender affect wellness;
• Promote the use of culturally relevant Knowledge Sharing activities and approaches (WSC: #moreinformation) and/or arts-based methods (WSC: #moreinformation), among other possible Knowledge Sharing approaches, to share learnings about Indigenous Gender and Wellness;
· Encourage strengths- and distinctions-based Knowledge Sharing that will build lasting relationships and improve shared learning and understanding, application, and opportunity to increase wellness for Indigenous individuals and communities using a gendered lens;
• Bridge capacity (WSC: #moreinformation) of the next generation of Indigenous health researchers and community partners in Knowledge Sharing focused on Indigenous Gender and Wellness;
• Support the evaluation of Knowledge Sharing activities and approaches, to support ongoing learning with the goal to improve the wellness of Indigenous Peoples in Canada from a gendered perspective, including how Indigenous concepts of gender affect wellness

This Priority Announcement will prioritize funding for research on HIV/AIDS and/or STBBI aligned with the CIHR HIV/AIDS Research Initiative: Strategic Plan (2022-2027) in the following research areas:

• Improving health equity by advancing research to understand and address determinants of health, new models of care, or sexual and reproductive health for people living with or at risk of HIV/AIDS and STBBI; or
• Accelerating discovery and innovation by advancing research on innovative technologies for testing and surveillance, interactions among infections and co-morbidities, or design and development of next-generation interventions.

The project also includes outreach efforts through partnerships with local legions and radio stations to raise awareness, and collaboration with other community organizations such as Avalon Sexual Assault Centre and the Cumberland County Sexual Health Center to enhance service delivery. This project is delivered in English.
