Grants and Contributions:
This project also aims to address shared priorities in the region to strengthen animal health surveillance and risk management. The project addresses components of Canada’s animal health surveillance and disease control efforts, through strengthening the coordination and harmonization of initiatives. WeCAHN will work with existing surveillance networks to collect and analyze data to create an efficient and effective surveillance and analysis framework that can be used by all sectors. The project will also benefit smaller sectors that may not have a robust regional health network, such as bison, sheep, and cervids. In addition, a regional animal health network will be a valuable tool for industry and government, which can feed information into national bodies, such as the Canadian Animal Health Surveillance System.
The objective of the Regional Collaborative Partnerships Program (RCP) is to encourage and assist two or more provincial or territorial governments to collaborate on a project or initiative (multiple projects) under a designated Canadian Agricultural Partnership (CAP) program to address common priorities.
