Description:
The objective of this project is to conduct research and allow the sector to increase production efficiency and improve agricultural sustainability, which will help the sector and Canada, to reach its greenhouse gas emission targets. The research will be used to develop a novel Artificial Intelligence (AI)-Based Agricultural Insurance Platform to facilitate the development and commercialization of Usage-Based Insurance (UBI) service products. The AI-based insurance platform and UBI products will aim to increase farm investment in new technology and adoption of Best Management Practices (BMPs) through the creation of incentives, resulting in cleaner soil, water, and reduction of GHG emissions.

Expected Results:
This project is expected to provide producers with cutting-edge tools to measure their optimal input of fertilizers, herbicides, and other field products as well as measuring the efficiency of their overall farm management, such as tillage which will help to reduce inputs, increase yields and decrease tillage—all important elements in Canada’s effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
