Description:
The objective of this project is to reduce the dependency on manual labor, Canadian farmers are increasingly looking towards the automation of daily chores. To address this challenge, Exonetik proposes to develop a 6 DOF compliant magnetorheological (MR) robotic arm, that is designed to naturally adapt to highly unstructured environments, like human muscles. The proposed robotic system will enable a multitude of tasks that are notoriously difficult to automate, such as fruit and vegetable harvesting.
Organization:
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada
Expected Results:
This project will increase the automation and productivity in sectors where robot implementation is not possible to this date, providing more efficient and secure production. Furthermore, it will have an impact on worker safety, minimizing human effort in difficult and physical hard tasks, allowing better hygiene and lower risk of spreading diseases between co-workers.
