Description:
This project aims to help Canada meet its need to attract a new generation of farmers. Access to knowledge and training is a key barrier to entering farming. Young Agrarians “Conditions for Growth” project addresses this gap with on-farm training and online education to provide entry-level skill-building and knowledge transfer opportunities for new farmers and under-represented and marginalized groups. This project will promote agriculture as a career, enable sector participation and build knowledge and leadership.

Expected Results:
The AgriDiversity Program strengthens the agriculture and agri-food sector by building its capacity through projects that:
• help Indigenous Peoples and members of other underrepresented and marginalized groups (URMG) develop leadership skills;
• build entrepreneurial capacity and business skills of URMG;
• facilitate the sharing of industry experience, best practices, and knowledge to help URMG manage transformation and adapt to changes in their business operations; and/or
• strengthen the sector by incorporating views from a greater diversity of sector players.

Program Purpose:
The AgriDiversity program will support projects aimed at helping Indigenous Peoples and other underrepresented and marginalized groups in Canadian agriculture – including women, youth, persons with disabilities, racialized persons, visible minorities, 2SLGBTQI+ communities, and official language minority communities – to fully participate in the sector by helping these groups address the key issues and barriers they often face for sector participation.
