Grants and Contributions:
The expected outcome of this project is that the resulting increase of hemp production and use in bioproducts could result in lower greenhouse gas emissions in agriculture production and environmental benefits to soil, water and air. Broader outcomes include economic growth and diversification from new hemp-based bioproducts brought onto market, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from replacement of fossil-based products with hemp-based bioproducts, strengthening of the agriculture sector in rural communities in Northern Alberta, and job creation in the industry.
The purpose of the Amendment was to reallocate $331,654 of Canada's contribution from fiscal year 2019-2020 to fiscal year 2020-2021 due to project delays. These delays also resulted in a decrease in project funding and adjustments to the projects activities that do not alter the scope of the project.
