The objective of this project is to improve the quantity and quality of hemp processed in the province, determine potential uses for hemp in bioproducts, and increase the industry's knowledge of hemp.

The expected outcome of this project is that the resulting increase of hemp production and use in bioproducts could result in lower greenhouse gas emissions in agriculture production and environmental benefits to soil, water and air. Broader outcomes include economic growth and diversification from new hemp-based bioproducts brought onto market, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from replacement of fossil-based products with hemp-based bioproducts, strengthening of the agriculture sector in rural communities in Northern Alberta, and job creation in the industry.
