Description:
This project aims to update five Codes of Practice: Hatching Eggs, Breeders, Chicken, and Turkeys; beef cattle; equine; pigs; and sheep. The Pullets and Laying Hens Code will be amended. Three 5-year-old Codes will undergo Code reviews to ensure that they continue to mitigate evolving risks. Communication activities will support Code awareness and implementation, while building public trust for the Codes and the collaborative and inclusive process by which they are developed.

The AgriAssurance program support industry to develop, verify and integrate assurance systems to address market and regulatory requirements (e.g. food safety, plant and animal health surveillance, animal welfare, environmental sustainability, traceability, market attributes and quality standards) and enable industry to make credible, meaningful and verifiable claims about the health, safety, and quality of Canadian agriculture products. The National Industry Association Component, will support not-for-profit industry organizations to develop or improve national assurance initiatives that aid their sector in managing risks and/or ensuring product safety and quality.
