Grants and Contributions:
The client will continue to support growth of the Indigenous tourism sector in Nova Scotia. Incremental activities will continue to spread awareness of the economic reconciliation of the benefits through key engagement with sector experts, Elders, and Chiefs to develop a new five-year strategy, community engagement to foster entrepreneurship, visitor awareness, and business/product development. Expected results include:
• Host Cultural Tourism Leadership Gathering and develop new five-year Strategic Plan
• Recruit 20 new Mi’kmawitasik members to enhance and market their authentic tourism products and/or cultural experiences
• Leverage high-quality video production, social media content, website support, and print materials to amplify the reach of Mi’kmawitasik
• Create a Destination Development brochure aimed at both Mi’kmaw and non-Mi’kmaw businesses to showcase best practices for increasing Mi’kmaw participation in tourism experiences
• Install Mi’kmawitasik signage (physical and digital) in key entry points throughout the province
• Launch development of a Mi'kmaw tourism governance model and Terms of Reference for sector development in Nova Scotia
The assistance type is Non-Repayable Contribution. The total government funding is $220,000.00.
