Description:
The project will support the organization’s effort to increase the capacity of Cape Dorset’s artist community through innovation workshops, a creation incentive program and forward planning. This project will provide necessary supports to emerging and mid-career artists in the form of training, artist residencies on location in Cape Dorset, international artist residencies in partnership with key art stakeholders such as the Brooklyn Museum, investments in the Strategic Commissioning Initiative, and succession planning.

Expected Results:

As a result of this project, the WBEC will have provided training and other career supports to their emerging, midcareer and established visual artist members, resulting in a significant job increase or expansion. The jobs projection includes 25 new self-employed or commissioned artist positions created and 75 existing jobs expanded within the visual arts sector.
