Description:
A study to determine the feasibility of using geothermal heat sources to provide energy for community scale electricity generation, building heating application, as well as the feasibility of geothermal storage. Activities under this project will involve engineering & technical services including data collection, inspection/sampling analysis, evaluation & preliminary design with cost estimation for the possible next phase if the research shows promise.

Expected Results:

As a result of this project, a report shall be provided that will indicate the data collected and will provide information on the potential of heat, electrical generation, and storage in three Nunavut communities. It will also note the selection of appropriate drilling technology / drilling site, and the estimated cost and time period for the exploration well drilling if proceeding to a next phase.
