Aproject to support the revitalization of the Mackenzie Delta Reindeer Herd to increase regional food security and enhance Inuvialuit participation in the regional economy.

As a result of this project, ICEDO will train 10 individuals to partake in regional herding and meat processing activities. In the long run, ICEDO expects its management of the reindeer herd to directly create 10 new positions and expand 5 existing positions.

Supports food security in Northern and Indigenous communities by helping to strengthen and support Indigenous and northern food systems in Canada’s North, reducing food insecurity, and seeking out creative solutions to food challenges across Canada’s North. This initiative will also support investments in northern small- to medium-enterprises, territorial governments, and community organizations pursuing food security related initiatives.
