As a result of this project, the community is expecting to serve 200 hot lunches every day, year round. The renovated building will also host the existing school breakfast program. To run both programs, the Hamlet will need four full-time employees therefore expanding 2 part-time jobs to full-time jobs and creating 2 new full-time jobs. This project will greatly contribute towards reducing food insecurity in the community, support low income households, and support community morale and mental health.
The Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF) aims to help communities across Canada build and improve community infrastructure projects so they can rebound from the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Fund's purpose is to support not-for-profit organizations, municipalities and other community groups, as well as Indigenous communities to build new community infrastructure and revitalize existing assets, bring people back to public spaces safely as health measures ease, create jobs and stimulate local economies
