The vision for the Centre is to achieve reach across the Canadian North, it will begin by building from existing work in the Yukon as an initial anchor. As a framework for the Centre’s governance and structure is developed, the intent is for more focused discussion and engagement in the other territories, while also building presence across relevant circles in Canada and internationally.
Inclusive Diversification and Economic Advancement in the North (IDEANorth) makes foundational investments in economic infrastructure, sector development and capacity building to help position Northerners in the territories to take advantage of Canada's innovation economy. The IDEANorth program focuses on four priority areas: economic growth and sector development; business scale-up, productivity and innovation; small-scale economic infrastructure development; and foundational economic infrastructure.
