Grants and Contributions:
As a result of this project, Sky High Wilderness Ranch will have a safe and durable piece of ranch equipment to assist with snow clearing, moving hay bales for horses, and wood and other items needing relocation on the property. This project will also result in the design of a classroom space that can later be constructed on the property for use by community members for culturally-relevant programming or rented by the public, thus increasing meeting space availability in the Whitehorse area and providing a new income stream in the summer months when other activities are slower at the ranch. This project will also see the development of a five-year strategic and business plan that will be developed in consultation with KDFN citizens that will include annual benchmarks and targets to guide the new owners through a successful transition with a focus on long-term sustainable tourism benefits to KDFN. Through these planning processes, they anticipate an expansion of Indigenous cultural elements into the business as well as use of the site for culturally relevant programming. At least one new job will be created for a KDFN citizen, and 8 others will be maintained as guides and operators.
