Description:

Test fishery for exploratory fishing for arctic char in two locations in Frobisher Bay; York Sound and Kendall Straits.

Expected Results:

As a result of this project, Kabva Marine in partnership with DFO intends to establish a commercial quota for char in the locations. It will create 12 to 14 jobs for the duration of the fishing portion of the project. With the establishment of the quota it has the potential to create a long term, sustainable market for ocean caught char. The intent, in the future, would be to repeat this process in other areas to establish similar types of quotas.
