Description:
As the Designated Inuit Organization representing the interests of all Inuit in the Kitikmeot region, the Kitikmeot Inuit Association (KitIA) will deliver the Entrepreneurship and Business Development (EBD) Fund program on CanNor's behalf, under a three-year External Delivery Organization (XDO) arrangement. The EBD program is designed to support the start-up or expansion of Indigenous-owned businesses, including individual and community-owned enterprises. With an XDO arrangement, KitIA will have the authority to solicit, assess, and make recommendations to CanNor for contributions towards eligible EBD recipients and projects, as set out in the CanNor EBD program terms and conditions.

Expected Results:

The three-year project will provide KitIA with operational funding to operate and deliver the EBD program. Amongst the expected results are: outreach and marketing in order to promote EBD in the region and to create a culture of entrepreneurship in the Kitikmeot region; an increase in Inuit-owned business support and in new business initiatives; increased capacity within KitIA and within the communities (e.g. administrative, ability to take advantage of future economic opportunities, and grow the business culture)..
