Description:
The CIHR Institute of Health Services and Policy Research (CIHR-IHSPR) will provide funding for applications that are relevant to the Institute’s mandate, CIHR’s definition of health services research (Pillar 3) and one or more of the following prioritized topics: 1. Innovations in how to organize, finance, manage and deliver health care that achieve the Quadruple Aim, improve equity, and are accountable to patients and the public in the following areas: ¿ Integration of care (including integrated delivery systems, continuity of care, and/or integration of upstream prevention approaches within health care delivery settings that address the social determinants of health); ¿ Primary care (in the context of health care delivery), and home, community, and long-term care. ¿ The health care workforce (including, funding and remuneration, training and support, such as leadership training incorporating equity, diversity and inclusion, scopes of practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and data systems for planning). 2. Implementation, evaluation and/or scale and spread of digital health solutions that aim to support a strong digital health ecosystem in Canada and to improve health and patient/provider experience outcomes. Examples of such solutions may include virtual care technologies (e.g., e-referral, e-consult, remote monitoring solutions) and system-level solutions/frameworks for data sharing, data governance structures, interoperability of health data and information systems and patient-centric health information architectures that enhance access of patient data to patients themselves and their providers. 3. Designing, implementing and/or evaluating equitable, accessible, anti-ableist, anti-racist, anti-discriminatory, diverse and/or inclusive health care delivery systems and/or service delivery models that advance the Quadruple Aim and health equity for all; 4. Advancing sustainable, climate-resilient and/or low-carbon health care systems, organizations, and service delivery models. 5. Advancing the theories, methods and approaches that underpin the science of HSPR, including theoretical and conceptual framework development, methodological improvements, measurement tool validation, and the development of indicators for HSPR excellence and broader impact. The primary focus of the research is on learning about and/or testing theories, methods and approaches and their broad applicability in health services and policy research.
