In 2019, following the Chair: Indigenous Research Chairs in Nursing competition, six Chairs across Canada (Quebec, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Manitoba) were granted $985,000 over five years in funding. With additional funds now available, CIHR has decided to extend the funding to these Chairs through directed grants. The total amount available is six (6) grants of $200,000 each, with a funding start date of October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026.
