Title:
AUTONOMOUS HEALTH MONITORING FOR ADAPTION ASSESSMENT ON LONG RANGE MISSIONS USING BIG DATA ANALYTICS
Agreement Number:
20EXPLSR2
Agreement Value:
$445,604.00
Agreement Date:
Apr 23, 2021 - Mar 31, 2025
Description:
Contract award to the 2018 LSRS AO. This experiment will assess cardiovascular deconditioning during spaceflight. We will assess the changing cardiovascular function throughout the duration of the data collection windows to demonstrate the impact of aspects such as spaceflight, exercise, activities, sleep and mental health state on the cardiovascular system.
Organization:
Canadian Space Agency
Expected Results:

The Research component of the program provides financial support to organizations to conduct space related research and development in priority areas. It will support targeted knowledge development and innovation to sustain and enhance the Canadian capacity to use space to address national needs and priorities in the future.

Additional Information:

Objective 1: Assess the effect of
spaceflight, exercises, activity, sleep
and mental health on changes in
cardiovascular function.
Objective 2: Test if the Bio-Monitor
system can provide physiological data in
sufficient amount and quality to support
the Artemis platform.
Objective 3: Test if Artemis computing
platform can support data acquisition and
transmission from the Bio-Monitor system.
Objective 4: Test extensions to McGregor's
Artemis computing platform to demonstrate
its potential for in-situ autonomous
cardiovascular deconditioning health
monitoring.
Objective 5: Perform a ground assessment
of the Artemis computing platform for
real-time cardiovascular deconditioning
health monitoring using Bio-Monitor data
acquired on the ISS.
Objective 6: Test algorithms to measure
the impact of adaptation in near real-time
and acquire new knowledge on
cardiovascular deconditioning health risks
associated with the spaceflight
environment.
