Amendment #001 – 2025: The additional contribution is € 30M (2025 economic conditions), with an estimated exchange rate of $1.65/€1 and estimated inflation rates of 2.2% for 2026, 2.1% for 2027, 3% for 2028 and 2% for the following years.

The end date of the agreement corresponds to the end date of the Canada-ESA Cooperation Agreement currently in force.

This commitment was made in the context of the current agreement ending on 2030-01-01, but the payments could extend beyond this agreement.

Program:
Contributions under the Canada/European Space Agency (ESA) Cooperation Agreement
Program Purpose:

The main objectives of the Program are to:
-Foster innovation and competitiveness by exposing Canadian space organisations to ESA’s Programs and activities dedicated to developing space technologies, applications and hardware;
-Maintain or increase the capability of the domestic space sector to successfully contribute to Canadian space endeavours by providing access to ESA’s space flight opportunities in order to demonstrate and qualify Canadian space technologies and hardware;
-Facilitate access to European public space markets as well as global space public and private markets, when applicable; and
-Acquire and maintain awareness of the directions of European space policies and of the European space technological, scientific, programmatic and commercial environments to feed the CSA’s strategic planning process.

In addition, Canadian participation in ESA programmes may:
-Facilitate the participation of Canadian scientists in ESA missions; and
-Facilitate access to ESA’s data and/or infrastructure to academia and government departments/agencies.
