Title:
Characterizing C60 cations in the cavity of NGC 7023
Agreement Number:
25JWGO4A02
Agreement Value:
$59,999.00
Agreement Date:
Feb 11, 2026 - Mar 31, 2028
Description:
This project will use JWST/MIRI to characterize the infrared spectral features of C60 (buckminsterfullerene) and its cations in the Iris Nebula (NGC 7023). These measurements will provide the critical spectroscopic constraints needed for ionozation balance studies and theoretical model validation for the IR emission of large aromatic molecules in space.
Organization:
Canadian Space Agency
Expected Results:
The Research component of the program provides financial support to organizations to conduct space related research and development in priority areas. It will support targeted knowledge development and innovation to sustain and enhance the Canadian capacity to use space to address national needs and priorities in the future.
