Agreement Date:
Feb 24, 2026 - Mar 31, 2028
Description:
This project will use JWST/NIRSpec to confirm the first robust candidate for a Population III galaxy (ID16043) at redshift z = 6.5, enable detections of rest-frame optical lines in extremely faint galaxies and probe the existence of low mass black holes at high redshift. This will be the deepest medium-grating spectroscopy ever conducted by JWST in a gravitational lensing cluster field.
Organization:
Canadian Space Agency
Expected Results:
The Research component of the program provides financial support to organizations to conduct space related research and development in priority areas. It will support targeted knowledge development and innovation to sustain and enhance the Canadian capacity to use space to address national needs and priorities in the future.
