Title:
Probing SF of nearby starburst nuclear rings at unprecedented resolution
Agreement Number:
25JWGO4A09
Agreement Value:
$60,000.00
Agreement Date:
Feb 24, 2026 - Mar 31, 2028
Description:
This project aims to study star formation in extreme environments by assembling a sample of 10 starbursting nuclear rings with comprehensive multiwavelength data. Using high-resolution VLA 33 GHz maps and JWST/NIRCam imaging, the team will resolve individual GMCs, H II regions, and star clusters to measure extinction-free star formation rates and investigate how factors like feedback, gas inflow, and turbulence regulate star formation efficiency in conditions similar to the Milky Way’s central molecular zone.
Organization:
Canadian Space Agency
Expected Results:
The Research component of the program provides financial support to organizations to conduct space related research and development in priority areas. It will support targeted knowledge development and innovation to sustain and enhance the Canadian capacity to use space to address national needs and priorities in the future.
