Title:
RF Tile for Next Generation SAR Missions
Agreement Number:
26STDPAA25
Agreement Value:
$1,000,000.00
Agreement Date:
Aug 31, 2026 - Aug 31, 2028
Description:
Canada has long been a leader in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) missions. Significant advancements have been made in integrated circuit technology that could improve performance and manufacturability of next generation SAR systems. As Earth Observation constellations get larger, there’s an increased need for more cost-optimized solutions. The purpose of this project is to develop an RF Tile that is a building block of a next generation SAR payload antenna. The expected outcome will be a tested prototype Tile that confirms both the performance and cost of the proposed design. Successful development of an RF Tile can enable high performing future SAR missions for the benefit of Canadians in the areas of disaster management, environmental monitoring, and resource management. A lower cost system based on the proposed architecture can also allow larger constellations to provide faster coverage over Canada’s vast maritime approaches, including the Arctic, and help protect Canadian sovereignty.
