Agreement Value:
$150,000.00
Agreement Date:
Nov 29, 2022 - Mar 31, 2023
Description:
Complete reconstruction of two façades of the CRC Maison Jeun`Aide because of worrying signs that could be dangerous for the safety of pedestrians walking around the building. The expert visits have identified, among other things, a significant curvature at the top of the building (ox belly phenomenon) as well as traces of moisture in the walls. The spandrels (shelves), under the windows and/or doors, are damaged. Sills made of porous materials absorb water and allow it to seep more easily into the wall under the doors and/or windows, which can cause damage to the siding and/or components underneath. Ultimately, it was recommended to proceed with the complete reconstruction of the affected facades. It should be noted that the building was built in 1891.
Organization:
Correctional Service of Canada
Expected Results:

The renovation will provide a safe and healthy environment for federal clients housed at this CRC as well as any passers-by on the pedestrian walkway as this situation represents a high safety risk. This is consistent with CSC's mission to ensure the safe management of eligible offenders during their transition from the institution to the community and during their supervision.
