Description:
The research plan will outline and examine the needs of federally sentenced Métis peoples while incarcerated and upon release under s. 84. In doing so, the research proposal will identify key areas of issues affecting Métis federal offenders to facilitate further research which may include site visits in the hopes of offering solutions to improve the experiences and outcomes of, and correctional environments for, Métis peoples in federal custody

Program Purpose:

The Recipient will develop a case-based research plan which will focus on obtaining and measuring Métis-specific, distinctions-based data of Métis in federal custody. The plan will serve for the conduct of a research to increase knowledge and appreciation of Métis culture and ways of knowing and doing in facilities, ultimately leading to more responsive programming tailored to the needs of Métis for their reintegration into their community.
