Description:
In collaboration with CORCAN a new programs building will be constructed and commissioned with associated infrastructure services. In addition, building finishes, furniture, and equipment will be procured for a turn-key programs building solution.Current inmates will also have the opportunity to engage in the construction of the programs building that reflect their cultural heritage and empowers Indigenous offenders, enabling them to build valuable vocational skills while maintaining a strong connection to their cultural roots.

Expected Results:

S.81 Healing Lodge operated by the community or partner organizations in accordance with the Corrections and Conditional Release Act (CCRA). The needs of Indigenous offenders are addressed through teachings and ceremonies, contact with Elders and interaction with nature. Emphasis is placed on spiritual leadership and the value of life experiences of staff and community members who act as role models. Programs are delivered in a context of community interaction and focus on preparing an offender for his or her eventual release.
