Description:
This project supports Development Initiatives in developing and publishing the 2020-2021 Global Nutrition Report (GNR). The GNR is the leading independent accountability mechanism for nutrition. Established in 2013 as an outcome of the Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Global Compact, the Report seeks to increase accountability for greater action to end malnutrition with a focus on curating high quality, comprehensive and credible data on nutrition outcomes and its determinants; and accounting for stakeholder commitments, policies and interventions designed to improve nutrition and financing for nutrition. Data produced by the Report exposes barriers faced by nutrition stakeholders, and highlights potential for action and advocacy for improved nutrition. The Report also holds donors, governments and private sector stakeholders accountable to their policy and financial commitments pledged through Nutrition for Growth and tracks donor and country annual spending towards nutrition.
The 2020 – 2021 Report aims to:
(1) call for greater action to end malnutrition in all its forms; (2) increase commitments for more action by highlighting gaps in and opportunities for financing and policy; (3) drive accountability and transparency by showing who is delivering and where progress is too slow; (4) work with partners who use GNR information to enforce accountability; (5) remain the ‘go-to’ resource for data on nutrition that innovates by disaggregating and visualising data, and telling stories to make the case for action; (6) inspire action by highlighting how change happens, how barriers are overcome, and what enables action; (7) be inclusive, highlighting all forms of malnutrition in all locations – low-, middle- and high-income countries, and different sectors; and (8) go beyond the nutrition sector by building allies in other sectors.
