Description:
This project aims to contribute to the prevention, resolution and mitigation of deadly conflict by arming stakeholders and decision-makers with the early information and in-depth analysis they need, in order to take preventative action. This project focuses on the risks of political exclusion and the opportunities for inclusion in different conflicts around the world. The project also works to develop gender-sensitive, thoroughly researched, and pragmatic policy recommendations, and find new ways to promote those ideas with relevant decision-makers and key conflict actors, with a focus on taking action so that they can help bridge the gap between analysis and action.
The project works to devote particular attention to women’s political participation in different stages of conflict and conflict resolution, shedding light on poorly understood gender dynamics in conflict settings, including the shaping of norms and the politicization of societal expectations on men and women.

Global Affairs Canada

Program Purpose:
The Peace and Stabilization Operations Program (PSOPs) is an integral component of the Government of Canada’s toolbox to prevent and respond to conflicts and crises abroad. It supports rapid, effective, whole-of-government coordinated responses to a wide range of challenges and serves as a valuable instrument for supporting stability in conflict-affected regions. PSOPs provides visible and concrete assistance in response to conflicts and crises abroad through targeted programming, the deployment of Canadian police officers (in partnership with Public Safety Canada and the RCMP) and civilian personnel, and direct support to the UN and multilateral peace operations, conflict prevention, mediation, and peacebuilding efforts.
