P009819001: This project aims to help strengthen food security and nutrition among Haiti’s vulnerable populations by strengthening the resilience and livelihoods of smallholder farmers and their communities in the Haut Artibonite region. P009819002: This project aims to address food and nutrition insecurity caused by COVID-19 in Haiti. The project aims to develop and improve the production of local smallholder farmers and to support activities, including the prevention of acute malnutrition based on an integrated and holistic approach. This initiative is part of the 40 million 2020 to 2021 Crisis-Pool fund of the Canadian Government intended to fund projects on resilience that counter the effects of the COVID-19 virus in developing countries.

Expected Results:

P009819001: The expected outcomes of this project include: 1) local production is developed and improved by enhancing smallholder farmers’ access to markets in the target communes; 2) schools in target communities receive diverse and nutritious meals, sourced from local smallholder farmers; 3) target communities strengthen their absorptive, adaptive and transformative capacity to cope with risks, shocks and climate change, while vulnerabilities are reduced and women’s potential and leadership are improved.

P009819002: The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased local production development and improvement by reinforcing access between markets and smallholders in the targeted communities; (2) increased diverse and nutritious meals enjoyed by small local farmers to schools in target communities; and (3) reinforced absorption, adaptation and transformation capacities of targeted communities to face risks, shocks and climate change while reducing vulnerabilities and improving the role and leadership of women.
