Afghan conflict, natural disasters, the uncertain political landscape and displacement dynamics. In 2021, an estimated 18.4 million people require humanitarian assistance, with primary sectors of concern including health, food security, and protection.
With GAC’s support, the International Medical Corps provides assistance to address the urgent needs of approximately 127,314 people in three eastern provinces of Afghanistan. This project focuses on improving access to life-saving emergency trauma care, and essential health services for conflict-affected people. Project activities include: (1) establishing a new operating theatre; (2) mobilizing six first aid trauma posts; (3) providing essential life-saving medical equipment; (4) setting up four health centres; (5) establishing one mobile health team; and (6) providing training to healthcare professionals.

Expected Results:
The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) improved availability of life-saving trauma care and referral services to internally displaced people (IDPs) and vulnerable local communities affected by the conflict; and (2) improved availability of life-saving basic primary healthcare services, including sexual and reproductive health services, to IDPs and vulnerable local communities in remote underserved areas.
The expected ultimate outcome is lives saved, suffering alleviated and human dignity maintained in communities experiencing humanitarian crises.
