Description:
P006167001: This project aims to slow the expansion of coal in the electricity sector by developing low-carbon alternatives (including solar, wind, and geothermal) and improving energy efficiency and grid upgrades in targeted countries. The Energy Transition Program is one of four programs under the Canada-World Bank Clean Energy and Forests Climate Facility (CCEFCF). This program financing is aimed at strengthening key institutional actors’ capacity to design regulatory incentives to boost energy efficiency and renewable energy markets. This Program provides funding alongside credit financing from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development or the International Development Association. Canada's contribution to the Program expects to leverage more than US$400 million in private and public investment and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 22 million tonnes.
P006167002: This project aims to support Renewable Energy in Small Island Developing States. This initiative aims to scale up renewable energy production, improve energy efficiency, facilitate the integration of variable renewable energy and improve energy sector resilience in targeted countries. The program’s financing supports key actors in designing regulatory incentives for energy efficiency and renewable energy markets and promoting gender considerations in clean energy investments. The program provides funding alongside credit financing from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development or the International Development Association. Canada's contribution to the program is expected to help leverage over US$70 million in private and public finance investment and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by over 900 000 tonnes. This program is one of four programs under the Canada-World Bank Clean Energy and Forests Climate Facility.
P006167003: This project supports the transition to sustainable land use and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from forests and landscapes in targeted countries. The Forests and Landscapes program is one of four programs under the Canada-World Bank Clean Energy and Forest Climate Facility (CCEFCF) and focuses on leveraging public and private finance to reduce deforestation, forest degradation, restore and enhance forest resources. It also focuses on establishing benefit-sharing mechanisms and gender-responsive commitments. The program provides funding alongside credit financing from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development or International Development Association. Canada's contribution to the Program expects to leverage more than US$100 million in private and public investments and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 15 million tonnes.
P006167004: This project aims to improve gender equality in the renewable energy sector in Small Island Developing States (SIDS). The project supports activities that increase employment opportunities for women, and the productive use of energy for women’s enterprises and livelihoods. The project also focuses on generating evidence on gender disparities in employment, productivity and related aspects. This is one of four programs under the Canada-World Bank Clean Energy and Forests Climate Facility. A portion of the project’s activities directly supports gender equality for projects under the Renewable Energy in SIDS program.
