Agreement Value:
$3,000,000.00
Agreement Date:
Jul 8, 2021 - Mar 31, 2023
Description:
March 2021 - The ongoing economic crisis in Venezuela has resulted in severe food and fuel shortages, record hyperinflation, and the collapse of the health care system. Therefore, essential goods, such as food and medicine, are out of reach for more than seven million people. Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, the situation has deteriorated due to closed borders, weakened economic activity, and increased demands on the already struggling health system. Vulnerable and crisis-affected populations require life-saving assistance, including primary healthcare, water, sanitation services, hygiene kits, and food and nutrition assistance as the situation continues to deteriorate in Venezuela. With GAC’s support, the World Food Programme provides emergency food assistance to Venezuelans facing acute vulnerabilities and supports common logistical services that benefit the entire humanitarian community.
Organization:
Global Affairs Canada
Expected Results:

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) improved food security and nutrition of populations facing vulnerabilities in Venezuela; and (2) improved coordination and information sharing of humanitarian actors.

The expected ultimate outcome is lives saved, suffering alleviated, and human dignity maintained in the targeted regions experiencing humanitarian crises or acute food insecurity.
