SI2 Investment Readiness Platfrom
Agreement Number:
7438738 P009495001
Agreement Value:
$4,000,000.00
Agreement Date:
Mar 17, 2022 - Mar 19, 2026
Description:
This project seeks to establish an Investment Readiness Platform (“Colombia SI2”) within Colombia that will provide capital and capacity support for enterprises, cooperatives, organizations and funds seeking to start or scale their impact, with a particular focus on rural regions in Colombia and enterprises serving women. The proposed initiative would consolidate Colombia’s social impact investing ecosystem and act as a catalyzer for Colombia’s impact investing sector to advance toward maturity. Through SI2 Impact investing will play a critical role in responding to intractable challenges, from social, environmental and economic well-being for all citizens to the impacts of COVID-19. The geographic scope of this project will focus on rural departments and vulnerable communities in Colombia. The project will seek to target (although will not necessarily be limited to): the Northern Coast (Costa Norte), Pacific Coast (Pacifica) and Amazon (Amazonia), with a particular focus on reaching isolated regions in those parts of the country. Although the focus will be rural, small and mid-sized towns and cities within Departments in these larger regions will be critical entry points into more isolated communities. Moreover, we will also seek to engage indigenous nations and communities within these three target regions.
Organization:
Global Affairs Canada
Expected Results:

This initiative will primarily benefit women, their children, families, and communities, targeted to rural, remote, post-conflict, and poverty-stricken areas of Colombia. This will be achieved by building capacity and capitalizing organizations, enterprises, funds, projects and associations with the following projected reach:
- 20 impact investing funds supported that focus on capitalizing impact enterprises in rural Colombia;
- 100 total organizations, enterprises, funds, projects and associations supported; and
- At least ten (10) rural communities/regions supported.

Based on the number of entities supported, it is estimated that this project will directly support employment for at least 900 families in Colombia, providing direct household income for 3,150 individuals in the country. The multiplier effect of the impact of the enterprises, funds, projects, and associations will be much greater given that their mandate is to address pressing social, economic, and environmental challenges in the country, from providing affordable housing to delivering health and educational services. Over 10,000 citizens will be indirect beneficiaries of the program, given the assistance provided to start-up and scale up the impact of participating enterprises, funds, associations, and projects.
