This project with the International Atomic Energy Agency will enhance nuclear security in key regions by strengthening capacity for the management of disused radioactive sources.

Expected Results:
- Update national registers of radioactive sources.
- Establish national policies and strategies for the management of DSRS.
- Select a management option (i.e., reuse/ recycling/ long-term storage and disposal/ repatriation) for all Category 1 and 2 sources in use or storage.
- Establish safe and secure storage facilities for DSRS until selected management option is implemented.
- Train regulatory staff and facility operators in the exercise of radiation safety and security of radioactive material activities related to RS in use, storage and transport.
- Category 1 and 2 DSRS managed in line with identified options.
