Description:
This project aims to strengthen the implementation and universalization of the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention (APMBC) and the Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM). Project activities include: (1) facilitating bilateral advocacy with target states for the universalization of the conventions; (2) providing small grants to national grassroots organizations, including women and youth-led organizations, to increase their capacity to promote the conventions and their norms; (3) supporting civil society representatives and members of affected communities to influence decision-making; and (4) supporting civil society members from affected communities, including victims, to participate in APMBC and CCM meetings.

Expected Results:

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) improved ability of States Parties and civil society to defend the norms against land mine and cluster munition use, and to promote the universalization of the conventions; (2) increased application of sound practices, including for land release methodologies, to help fulfill national clearance obligations; (3) increased meaningful participation of survivors and affected communities (including women, men, girls and boys) in implementing the conventions at the national and international levels.
