Description:
Via this project, DI will provide data-driven evidence to inform decisions and better advise how resources are and could be allocated and used most effectively to meet the needs of those vulnerable to and affected by crisis. DI’s GHA Programme for 2022-2024 will seek to analyse, promote and improve access to, availability and use of open data on humanitarian and wider crisis response. Projects activities include: (1) Generate and share the data analysis and evidence describing and explaining the key trends in need and financing in crisis contexts; (2) Engage in shaping the reform of humanitarian financing through consolidated recommendations; (3) Inform and shape efforts to deliver coherent, coordinated and accountable programming and financing to address risk, vulnerability and crisis through data analysis; and (4) Improve understanding of, access to, and the availability and use of open data on humanitarian needs and crisis financing through technical guidance and awareness-raising activities such as engaging in key fora.

Expected Results:

Through DI’s work, the partner aims to ensure that stakeholders make decisions informed by the findings and recommendations of the data analysis and evidence produced, thereby leading to the improved efficiency and effectiveness of humanitarian assistance.

This goal will be supported through the following expected results: (1) Enhanced knowledge and understanding of the key trends and developments in humanitarian and wider crisis financing and response; (2) Enhanced awareness of good practice, opportunities and options, and of challenges and barriers, for more effective and efficient resourcing of humanitarian and crisis response; and (3) Improved knowledge and understanding of the importance, availability and use of open data on humanitarian and wider crisis response, and access to practical solutions to enable greater availability and use of open data.
