Description:
In 2022, the Institute will define a new strategy for the 2023-2027 period which will include an institutional initiative on Digitalization and Democracy. The initiative will focus on three themes: “Digitalization and the Global State of Democracy”, “Protecting electoral processes in the context of digitalization”, and “Digitalization and participation”. A special allocation of funds is required to operationalize the Digitalization and Democracy Initiative and to fill a critical knowledge gap within the organization in this highly technical area.

Expected Results:

International IDEA’s research and knowledge products will capture global experiences of democracy and provide decision-makers with accurate analysis, data and tools for inclusive political, constitutional and electoral reform. This initiative aims at expanding the institute’s impact and ability to cover relevant digitalization-related developments in the areas of knowledge production, policy advisory capacities, and building partnerships.
