Description:
The project implemented by Éducation Internationale (ÉI) will provide international internships to young people, primarily to those in the school network who face difficulties in finding employment, especially those enrolled in vocational training and adult education centers in Canada, mainly in Quebec. ÉI will establish 84 internships, including (38) six-month and (46) four to six weeks internships. The offered internships are in line with the visions and missions of local partners and contribute to the advancement of SDGs 4, 5, and 13, while aligning with the fields of action of the FIAP, namely: i) gender equality and women's empowerment, ii) human dignity, and iii) environmental sustainability.

Expected Results:

The EI IYIP aims to acquire skills that promote employability, including the development of know-how (specific skills or tasks related to a profession), soft skills (such as interpersonal skills), and knowledge (learning a language, for example). Furthermore, through their internship experience and innovative engagement activities proposed, each intern should grow in terms of awareness, mobilization, and engagement in favor of international development.

Program Purpose:

The International Youth Internship Program is intended to:
provide eligible Canadian youth with international experience, skills and knowledge that will prepare them for future employment;
increase employment opportunities by promoting awareness among Canadian organizations of the advantages of integrating young Canadian professionals into their structures and programs;
provide opportunities for Canadian youth to increase their awareness, deepen their understanding as global citizens, and engage in international development; and
contribute to the advancement of Global Affairs Canada’s mandate to reduce poverty and inequality, promote human rights and increase sustainable development, and to meet Global Affairs Canada’s priorities for official development assistance.
