Description:
This project aims to reduce state and societal violence experienced by young Tunisian men and women in the target communities of Kasserine and Tataouine. Project activities include: (1) increasing capacity-building for youth groups, civil society organizations, and local media outlets to recognize and address incidences of gendered violence and its short and long-term impacts on society; (2) increasing visibility of gender-based violence among state leaders and society through media programming and sensitization campaigns; (3) facilitating inclusive and participative public dialogues; and (4) supporting youth-led advocacy campaigns.

Expected Results:

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) increased visibility of gendered state and societal violence that young men and women face and its effects; (2) improved sense of community belonging amongst, and better community perceptions of, young men and women as they challenge gendered and class-based stereotypes; (3) increased trust between young men and women and local authorities.
