Description:
This initiative will help to improve the capacity of parliaments to be effective actors of change in addressing key democratic challenges through their functions of representation, lawmaking, and oversight. While the immediate beneficiaries of the initiative are parliamentary actors, the project aims to strengthen the relationship between parliaments and civil society organizations, national governments, and other stakeholders, to support societies’ democratic resilience and the fulfilment of human rights.

Expected Results:
The project will contribute to improved fulfillment of parliaments’ representative, legislative and oversight functions in countries of the Francophonie most challenged in terms of sustaining resilient democratic governance systems, including:
- Increased effectiveness of parliaments’ promotion of gender equality and women’s political participation
- Improved performance of parliaments to effectively advance rights-based governance of digitalization and information integrity, and:
- Improved performance of parliaments to accelerate just green transitions.
