Description:
This project aims to improve the lives of survivors of conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) through the Global Fund for Survivors of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence (GSF). It seeks to work with survivors of CRSV globally to enhance and ensure their access to reparations and comprehensive reparative measures addressing their urgent needs. Project activities include: (1) providing grants for civil society organizations to ensure survivors receive interim reparative measures; (2) advocating at the international and national levels for policy, programmatic and legislative development to improve access to reparations for survivors of conflict-related sexual violence; and (3) providing technical assistance to States and other stakeholders to develop their national reparations programmes. The project aims to benefit and encourage the participation of women and girls, as they are more likely to experience conflict-related sexual violence. It also seeks participation from men and boys, depending on the context.
Organization:
Global Affairs Canada
Expected Results:

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) improved lives of survivors through interim reparative measures projects, using a contextualized co-creation approach; (2) provided urgent interim reparation to prevent irreparable harm to survivors and establish a model for developing a fully fledged national reparation programme. This is specifically for situations of acute need or active conflict and in formal partnerships with governments; (3) strengthened the policy framework and knowledge on reparations at international, regional and national levels for survivors of CRSV; (4) led an effective national and state-level advocacy initiative, causing government actors or political leaders to take positive steps or make formal commitments to provide appropriate survivor-centric reparations measures; (5) encouraged governments to take positive steps in designing and implementing survivor-centric reparation programmes at the national level, in line with GSF recommendations and best practices; (6) helped close the global knowledge gap around CRSV by creating a comprehensive catalogue and accounting of reparation practices; and (7) generated and shared knowledge and best practice on implementing meaningful reparation for survivors of CRSV.
